Overview The Toddler skill level is where the Parent learns to take a backward step and allow the toddler to experience their balance in the water. A variety of activities are designed to encourage the child to let go. The focus at this level is to motivate the child to become a little independent in the water. |
Water Awareness:

- Enters and exits pool

- Holds breath for ready

- Jumps into pool with
assistance, sitting / sanding
- Makes splashy hands
Locomotion Skills:
- Independently kicks
with / without kickboard
- Uses 2 kickboards with
kicks, independently for 15 feet
- Kickboard skills on
stomach supported for 15 feet
- Kickboard skills on
back supported / unsupported for 15 feet
- able to float on back
for 10 seconds
- Opens eyes underwater
- From prone position
turns to float
- From back position turns
to swim
- Uses arms to get across
pool
- Uses kicks to get across
pool
