Our Philosophy

At Aqua Duks, we use a unique step system to build the safest and most efficient swimmers. Beginning with the foundational skills of breath control and buoyancy in Step 1, your child will have a platform on which they will continue to add skills. Throughout our program, your child will gain a comfortability and confidence in the water that will stay with them their entire aquatic journey. By the end of Step 5, your child will have the skills and confidence to join a competitive swim club.

How did you get into teaching swim lessons?

I come from a family of swimmers! I started swimming competitively at age 4 and stayed on the same club team (The Stingrays) until I was 15 and old enough to work at the pool we practiced in. I continued to teach while swimming and playing water polo for my high school and later explored lots of swim theory while teaching during my first couple years of college.

What are your hobbies outside of swimming?

I love to binge watch shows on Netflix (especially “Parks and Recreation” and “New Girl”). I also love writing, listening to audiobooks, cleaning the kitchen while jamming to music, and hanging out with my nephews, Michael and Ky, and my niece Claudia.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

For me, it’s all about safety. I have a particular passion for getting kids safer in the water. I love spending time in the water so much, that I don’t think anybody should have to miss out because they haven’t learned their safety swims yet!
